Weekly Update

This has been quite a week. An earthquake last Wednesday, then a hurricane. The pool came through both events beautifully, but what’s next? Locusts? The plague?

I’m glad to report that there appears to be no natural disasters looming this week, so Chip and Dale and their able assistant the Kempster, are busily planning this Friday’s crab feast. The crab(by) committee has been very careful in their planning, wearing coordinating shirts and making lists. (Yes, they really have been making lists and checking them twice. Who knew?)

Crabs and corn have been ordered, mallets have been found, beer, wine and extra lights have been bought and newspapers are being saved. Still on the to-do list are buying salmon and shrimp, not to mention plates, cutlery and lots and lots of paper towels. Music has been chosen. All that’s needed now are people to eat! (not literally going to eat people, but you get the point).

If you haven’t signed up already please do so asap. Write a check for $25 for each eater and leave at the front desk. There will be lifeguards present all night, but kids will need to go home to bed at 9 p.m. If you would like other dishes or dessert for your table please feel free to bring them along at 6:30 p.m. sharp.

As always this should be a very fun event, and I hope to see you there. The boys were lucky enough to order the corn from the new Local Market in downtown Falls Church, which represents vendors at the Saturday farmers’ market. A nice supporting touch for the local community!

Membership Meeting
Sunday, Sept 4, 4 p.m.
All hands on deck! Please come up to the pool to meet with the board and talk about any issues you might have. New board members will need to be voted on and thanks will be given to outgoing board members.

Extended Hours
Regular pool hours will end this weekend (i.e. 9 p.m. on Labor Day), but lucky for us there will be extended hours the next two weekends. The pool will be open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday until Sept. 18, which will be a very sad day. So let’s all enjoy and start counting the days until Memorial Day!

See you poolside.
